Online Application & Appointment Process

Before the application, you can find the following details:

Gather Documents Collect all necessary original documents (proof of DOB and address) and required annexures.
Access Official Portal Go only to the official website: passportindia.gov.in.
Fill Form & Review Fill the application carefully. Double-check all entered data against your original documents.
Pay Fees Online Pay the applicable fee for your passport type (e.g., 36/60 pages, Normal / Tatkal). Save the payment receipt.
Book Appointment Schedule your appointment at your nearest PSK or Post Office PSK.
Visit Office Carry all original documents and their self-attested photocopies for your appointment.
Track Status Use the "Track Application Status" link on the website with your 15-digit file number.

Passport Police Verification

Before the application, you can check the police verification types.

Nature Description
Normal Application Standard process for first-time applicants or those with expired passports.
Pre-Police Verification This is applicable for minors, older seniors, or government employees.
Post-Police Verification This case is only used for tatkaal. The passport is printed and dispatched immediately after your PSK appointment.

 

Check Status in West Bengal

You can track your status by following the steps.

Visit the Official Website Go to the official Passport Seva Online Portal
Locate the Tracking Section On the website's homepage, find and click on the "Track Your Application Status" link. 
Select Application Type Choose the type of application from the drop-down menu. 
Enter Your Details Enter your 15-digit file number and your date of birth in the required format (DD/MM/YYYY).
View Your Status Click the "Track Status" button. The next screen will display the current stage of your application.

Questions and Answers

Q. How can I apply for a passports?

A. First, go to the government website. Then, create an account by signing up with your details. After that, log in using your ID and password. Fill out the application form carefully. Once the form is filled, submit it online. Then, pay the application fee. After payment, book an appointment at the nearest kendra.

Q. How much time in the Seva Kendra?

A. You need to spend about one hour at the center for document verification. It is important to arrive on time for your appointment. Also, keep in mind that the tiffin break is from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM, so try not to schedule your visit during that time.

Q. What is non-ECR?

A. ECR means emigration check required, and non-ECR means emigration check not required.

Q. Can we go directly to the office without an appointment in India?

A. No, you cannot go to the office without an appointment. But in case of an emergency or for a medical reason, you may be allowed to go without an appointment.

Q. Will the passport number change after reissue or renewal?

A. Yes, if you make any changes to your passports, like address, spouse's name, or education (qualification), or if you apply for renewal or reissue, your number will change. You will get a new passport with a new number.

Q. Is a phone allowed in the Seva Kendra?

A. Yes, the phone is allowed in Kendra. However, it is used only for emergency purposes for verification outside of the kendra.
