• DOB: After 1989, a birth certificate is compulsory for a passport application. Birth documents from 2002 require a QR code.
• Application: Check that your name, address, and DOB match your documents before applying.
• Documents: Keep originals and photocopies ready. Photocopies should include a QR code, and laminated documents can sometimes be rejected.
• Appointment: A total of three appointments are available at the Passport Seva Kendra.

1. Register Online: Visit the official Passport Seva Portal and create an account. Select the appropriate Regional Passport Office (RPO).

2. Select the Passport Service: Log in and choose the appropriate service, such as:

• Fresh Passport – for a first-time applicant
• Re-issue of Passport – for eligible renewal or other re-issue cases
• Lost or Damaged Passport – for applicable cases

3. Fill Out the Application: Enter the requested personal, birth, address, family, and other details. Review the information carefully before submitting.

4. Submit the Application and Pay: Submit the completed form and pay the applicable passport fee. The fee depends on factors such as the applicant’s age, booklet size, service type, and Normal or Tatkaal processing.

5. Schedule an Appointment: Book an available appointment at a Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK).

6. Prepare Your Documents: Use the official Passport Seva Document Advisor to determine the documents required for your particular circumstances. Bring the required original documents and copies to the appointment.

7. Attend the Passport Centre: Visit the selected PSK or POPSK on the appointment date. Your application and documents will undergo the prescribed processing and verification procedures.

8. Complete Police Verification if Required: Police verification may be required depending on your application and the Passport Office’s decision. It may take place before or after passport issuance.

9. Passport Issuance and Delivery: After the applicable processing and verification requirements are successfully completed, the passport is issued, printed, and dispatched to the applicant’s address.

10. Track Your Application: You can monitor the application through the official Passport Seva Portal using your application details.

Check Your Passport Status Online: Go to the official Passport Seva Portal and select Track Application Status.

1. Select Application Type.
2. Enter your 15-character alphanumeric File Number.
3. Enter the applicant’s Date of Birth.
4. Click Track.
5. Review the latest status shown for the application.

The File Number is printed on the acknowledgement letter issued at the PSK after submission of the application.
