• DOB: After 1989, a birth certificate is compulsory, and a QR code is necessary for birth documents from 2002.

2. Pay the Passport Application Fee:  After submitting the online application, the applicant must proceed to the payment and appointment stage.  The official Passport Seva process requires applicable payment before booking an appointment at Passport Seva Kendras. The applicant can select the appropriate appointment quota and preferred PSK/POPSK from the available options.

3. Select an Appointment: After payment, the system displays available appointment options for the selected centre. The applicant can choose the available PSK or POPSK and proceed with appointment booking. Once payment is successfully completed, the appointment confirmation screen displays the appointment details, and an SMS is sent to the registered mobile number.

3. Keep the Appointment Details: Applicants should keep their appointment information available until the visit. A printed application receipt is no longer mandatory for a normal PSK/POPSK visit. According to the official Passport Seva FAQ, the appointment SMS can also be accepted as proof of appointment.

4. Visit the Passport Seva Centre: The applicant must appear personally at the selected PSK or POPSK on the scheduled date. The centre visit may involve:

• Checking the submitted application
• Verification of supporting documents
• Photograph capture
• Biometric collection
• Verification of personal details
• Processing and decision on the application

5. Application Processing After the Visit: Once the application has been processed at the passport centre, the application moves to the next applicable stage.  The processing route is not identical for every applicant. Depending on the case, police verification may be required before passport issuance, after issuance, or may not be required under the applicable rules.

6. Police Verification, Where Required: Police verification is an important part of many passport applications. The Passport Office determines the applicable police-verification mode. It may be:

• Pre-police verification
• Post-police verification
• No police verification in eligible cases

7. Passport Grant and Printing: After the necessary checks are completed and the application receives the required approval, the passport can proceed toward printing and dispatch.

Online application submitted → Fee payment → Appointment booking → PSK/POPSK visit → Document and biometric processing → Police verification if applicable → Passport grant → Printing → Dispatch → Delivery

Step 1: Open the Official Passport Seva Website:  Go to the official Passport Seva application-status page.

Step 2: Select the Application Type: Choose the appropriate application category displayed by the Passport Seva status tracker.

Step 3: Enter the File Number: Enter the 15-character alphanumeric File Number exactly as shown on your acknowledgement letter.

Step 4: Enter Your Date of Birth: Enter the applicant’s Date of Birth as requested by the Passport Seva portal.

Step 5: Select Track Application Status: After entering the required information, select Track Application Status.
