  2. Select the Passport Service: After logging in, select the option for Fresh Passport/Re-issue of Passport and choose the service applicable to your situation.

How Often Should You Check Your Passport Application Status?

After submitting an Indian passport application, applicants often want to know how frequently they should check its progress. Checking the status too frequently usually does not provide additional information because the status changes only when a new processing stage or update is recorded.

For most applicants, checking once every 2–3 days is reasonable. You can check more frequently when an important event is expected, such as police verification or passport dispatch. A simple approach is:

Stage Suggested frequency
Immediately after application Check after 1–2 days
Before/after police verification Every 1–2 days
After police verification Every 2–3 days
After dispatch Once a day if tracking delivery
No status change for several days Check periodically rather than repeatedly
