1. DOB: A birth certificate is compulsory after 1989 for passport applications, and birth documents from 2002 require a QR code.
2. Application: Verify that your documents contain the same name, address, and DOB.
3. Documents: Bring original documents and photocopies. The photocopies should include a QR code, and laminated documents can sometimes be rejected.

Step 1: Register on the Passport Seva Portal:  Visit the official Passport Seva Portal and create an account. Select the appropriate Regional Passport Office (RPO) during registration.

Step 2: Log in to Your Account: After registration, log in using your registered credentials. Select the passport service that applies to your situation:

• Fresh Passport – for a first-time applicant
• Re-issue of Passport – for renewal or other applicable changes
• Other available services, where applicable

Step 3: Fill Out the Application Form: Complete the online application with accurate information, including:

• Applicant’s personal details
• Date and place of birth
• Current residential address
• Family details
• Previous passport details, if applicable
• Other information requested in the form

Step 4: Submit the Application: Submit the completed application form online. Save your Application Reference Number (ARN) or other application details for future reference.

Step 5: Pay the Applicable Passport Fee: Use the Passport Seva portal to pay the applicable fee. The fee depends on factors such as the type of application, applicant’s age, booklet size, and whether Normal or Tatkaal service is selected.

Step 6: Book an Appointment: Choose an available appointment at a suitable PSK or POPSK through the Passport Seva portal.

Step 9: Police Verification: Police verification may be required depending on the application. It can take place before or after passport issuance depending on the circumstances and the Passport Office’s decision.

Step 10: Passport Issuance and Delivery: After successful processing and completion of applicable verification, the passport is printed and dispatched to the applicant’s address.

How to Check Passport Status Online

1. Visit the official Passport Seva Portal.
2. Select Track Application Status.
3. Choose the relevant Application Type.
4. Enter your File Number.
5. Enter your Date of Birth.
6. Click Track Application Status.
7. The portal will display the latest available status of your passport application.

A. After printing of the passport, you can get your passport within 7 days from the passport office.
