Passport Office Nagpur & Maharashtra – Centre Details

The Passport Office, Nagpur, started functioning in September 1989. The head office is located at Seminary Hills, Nagpur. It covers 14 passport office state of Maharashtra, viz. Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Hingoli, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim, Yavatmal.

Maharashtra has three types of passport offices. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) maintains them. The office types are:

  1. Regional Passport Office (RPO):  This is the Regional Head Office of Maharashtra that handles final approvals and printing.
  2. Passport Seva Kendra (PSK): This centre processes documents and biometric verification. (e.g., PSK Nagpur)
  3. Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK): In small town passport application process is handled by the head post office.

Passport Application: Common Preparation Errors and How to Avoid Them

  • DOB: A birth certificate is compulsory after 1989, while birth documents from 2002 require a QR code.

  • Application: Ensure your documents match your name, address, and DOB.

  • Documents: Take originals and photocopies. QR code should be included, and laminated documents can sometimes be rejected.

  • Appointment: You have three appointments at the Passport Seva Kendra.

  • Time: Reach the passport office 15 minutes before your appointment time.

  • Application Type: Tatkaal does not process minor and lost or damaged passport applications.

Passport Application Appointment Process Explained

Handled through the official Passport Seva system, and appointment availability depends on the selected centre and available slots.

  1. Complete the Online Passport Application: Before booking an appointment, complete the applicable passport application form and submit it online.
  2. Open the Payment and Appointment Option: After submitting the application, log in to your Passport Seva account and select:  View → Pay and Schedule Appointment

  3. Select the Appointment Quota: Where applicable, choose the appointment quota shown by the system.
  4. Choose a PSK or POPSK: Select the Passport Seva Kendra or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra where you want to attend the appointment.
  5. Check the Available Appointment: Once the centre is selected, the system displays the next available appointment date according to the available slots.
  1. Pay the Passport Fee: Proceed to the online payment gateway and complete payment using one of the payment methods currently supported by Passport Seva.
  1. Receive Appointment Confirmation: After successful payment and booking, the Passport Seva Portal displays the appointment confirmation along with the appointment details.
