Correction of Date of Birth
As per the passport rule, you can change your date of birth in some special cases or in certain situations. Most of the cases are addressed within time or by court order judgments. The conditions are as follows.
| Major Applicants | Within five years of the issue of the first passport, you can change your date of birth. After five years, you can not change of date of birth. It is allowed only by date of birth. |
| Minor Applicants | You can change the date of birth any time until you are a major or below 18 years of age. |

Only a genuine digital birth certificate issued by the competent authority School Certificate, etc., will be accepted for the correction of the date of birth. |
| Fine payable | As per the Passports Act, 1967, a fine and fee are applicable for your DOB correction. |
| Fake documents | Application fee and penalty will not be reimbursed if the application for correction is of DOB is found to be incomplete or if fake documents. |
| Affidavit | The Passport Office may ask for an affidavit on stamp paper or three newspaper advertisements explaining the error. |
| Are Abroad | The process is similar, but you must apply through the Indian Embassy or Consulate in your country of residence. |

| Register/Login: | Create a new account or log in to your existing account. |
| Select | Apply for Fresh Passport/Re-issue of Passport”. |
| Fill the Application Form | Fill in your correct Date of Birth in the form. |
| Documents | Ensure all other details match your supporting documents |
| Pay Fee | Pay the Fee and Schedule an Appointment |
| Visit PSK | Visit the Passport Seva Kendra with original documents. |
| Police Verification | Police verification is initiated; a police officer will visit your registered address. |

Key Points to Remember

No Handwritten Corrections: Any handwritten corrections or overwriting on the passport is invalid and will make the passport unusable.

Tatkaal Scheme: You can use the Tatkaal scheme to expedite the process, but the Tatkaal scheme does not apply to correcting your passport.

Be Consistent: Ensure that your correct date of birth is consistent across all your new supporting documents. Only the birth certificate and educational documents are as per the dob proof.
